TOSS

Andrew Strauss won the toss and elected to bowl first. England had some changes in their squad - Matt Prior for Davies and James Treadwell came in for Swann.

For Australia Hauritz, Marsh and Shaun Tait were the 3 changes.

PART 1

Watson and Haddin opened for Australia but unlike the 1st ODI went cheaply both out for 5 runs.

PART 2

Their batting looked so disarrayed that they were 33/4 in the 13th over loosing both the openers, Hussey and captain Clarke. Clarke was caught at point by Ian Bell of Bresnan and in the 13th over Hussey was gone by a brilliant catch from Strauss at gully.

PART 3

White and Marsh added exactly 100 runs for 5th wicket. They played sensible cricket keeping their cool, rotated strike and hit occasional boundaries before White got out in the 33rd over. He was caught & bold by the left armer Yardy. White made 45 runs of 76 balls, hitting 3 boundaries.

Just 5 balls later Smith was bowled looking to drive Shahzad and the bowler got his 3rd wicket.

PART 4

In came Hauritz to accompany Marsh but could manage only 2 runs playing 6 deliveries. Another wicket fell down in the form of Lee. Boulinger came in the 37th over and game changed for the Aussies as both the batsmen gave the English bowlers a run for their money hitting the ball to all parts of the park and adding 88 runs in 11 overs. Australia was now 230 for 9. The next Tremlett ball took marsh's wicket and Australia was all out for 230.

PART 5

England's chase didnt start well as they lost Prior early in the 3rd over. Captain Strauss was lbw of Bollinger and that was a big one for Aussies.

PART 6

Kevin Pieterson was gone 1st ball and Australia was right into the game now. Bell and Trott added 47 runs for 4th wicket, but Trott gave a simple catch of a short pitch delivery from Smith to Hussey. Clarke's field placement got another wicket on 96 of Ian Bell.

PART 7

England's chase just tore apart infront of some brilliant bowling and fielding from Australia. They needed runs at more than run a ball but they couldn't form a partnership and lost wickets at regular intervals. Eventually they were all out for 184, Bollinger being the pick of the bowlers. Lee took 2 crucial wickets, 1 each for Watson and Smith.

Australia won by 46 runs.
